For several years, Chetwynd-Hayes was also active as an editor, producing several volumes in three Anthology series, the Fontana Book of Great Ghost Stories sequence the Tales of Terror sequence, which includes one Scots-flavoured volume edited as by Angus Campbell, Tales of Terror from Outer Space (anth 1975) and the Armada Monster Book. The Dracula sequence, comprising Dracula's Children (coll of linked stories 1987) and The House of Dracula (coll of linked stories 1987), deals with several generations of a Vampire family as extrapolated from hints in Bram Stoker's Dracula ( 1897).Ĭhetwynd-Hayes published two novels of sf interest: The Man from the Bomb ( 1959), a Satire of Cold War Paranoia set in Near Future Britain and The Brats: A Novel of the Future ( 1979), set a generation after World War Three has rendered Homo sapiens infertile, except for the breeding of subhuman "brats" (see Devolution), who in turn give birth to worm-like creatures (see Horror in SF) which, forming into a Telepathic gestalt, prepare to take over the world. The Clavering Grange tales, a series which includes two novels and variously released shorter works, are set in a twelfth-century mansion in Kent, where hauntings are numerous some of the tales are set in the Near Future and beyond.
